Sometimes I have to tell myself it’s just not worth the jail time.
We are almost done with our holiday shopping. Leslie and I online-ordered some gifts and, when we returned from Las Vegas, we had eight boxes at the door. We unpacked (and ooh-ed and aah-ed) all the items and struggled to find a temporary home for these gifts in our garage. A feat in itself.
We have been in our condo for more than 24 years and we have a one-car garage. In all those years, we parked one car there for one day. ONE DAY! Which translates to using our garage as a storage unit for almost 9,000 days. What the hell? If I was moving into this condo today, I’m sure we would have used the garage as it was meant to be. An exercise area.
Oh, but I kid. Of course, we would probably still store holiday decorations and an extra refrigerator in there, but we would have a lot less. I promise! We certainly wouldn’t need all the crap we have, and some day in the very near future, we will have a friend help us clean out the garage and make it leaner, cleaner and neater. My goal? End of January.
Today, we ordered a few last gifts today from Cost Plus World Market. We put everything in our online shopping cart, entered a 20% off promo code, and were told that the code wouldn’t work. Well, 20% is more money in our pocket, so we called to place the order instead. I believe we were talking to someone in the U.S., but she was annoying!
I know, the holiday season is hard for any retail employee, and I’m glad we weren’t Face Timing with the phone clerk. Leslie and I were rolling our eyes and really just wanted to strangle this gal over the phone. But that would have been more trouble than it was worth.
