Affirming the 60 Blog

Always end the day with a positive thought.  No matter how hard things were, tomorrow’s a fresh opportunity to make it better.

Another day, another lesson learned.  At class today, we learned to apply affirmations to help us get a good night’s sleep.  I use affirmations daily, but learned of a podcast to listen to before bed, which relays thoughts such as:  “I know that the more I can clear my mind and set aside needless worry, the more I allow myself to be peaceful, calm, and well.”  “More and more I can appreciate my body, respect it, and take good care of it.”

With the help of my niece Marissa today, I finally went through the boxes and bags I took home from the office weeks and weeks ago.  It felt good to shred documents that I had been keeping for years.  When I packed up my desk, I took my three pencil cups (why three?) and weeded through those today.  I don’t need to keep two dozen pencils and some of those pens didn’t even work!

I now have a banker’s box of documents to store in my garage.  Thankfully, Marissa organized one half of the garage, er, storage unit and we can now see some of the walls.  Before the year ends, she will help us go through the other half, and we’ll be donating Christmas decorations and assorted other crap.

Tomorrow is indeed a fresh opportunity for a better day.  Having half a garage emptied of junk (as well as my back seat, which was home to too many boxes and bags), I feel lighter already.  “More and more, I see that when I can love and appreciate myself and take time to care for myself, I’m giving my body a powerful message to be calm and well.”
