Stoning the 60 Blog

Edward Abbey:  One must be reasonable in one’s demands on life.  For myself, all that I ask for is:  (1) accurate information; (2) coherent knowledge; (3) deep understanding; (4) infinite loving wisdom; (5) no more kidney stones, please.

Did you miss me?   It appears that I took the 100-blog celebration a little too far and spent about five hours in the emergency room yesterday.

We came home from our road trip early in the afternoon and spent some time catching up with the best-girl-on-earth.  She spent quality time here with Leslie’s cat, Clooney, and despite some allergic reactions, Marissa and Clooney had an awesome time. We played some games and then I wasn’t feeling well.  Within an hour, I went from enjoying my coffee to sitting almost doubled over in pain.

I finally gave in and asked Leslie to drive me to the urgent care.  After being told there’d be a wait of almost three hours, I thought I was going to pass out.  Back to the car we went, and Leslie drove like a champ to the emergency room.  After a short waiting period, I was wheeled into a room and given drugs.  The morphine didn’t work and the nurses gave me some stronger meds.  I was soon on my way to painless sleep.  I was extra relaxed when they wheeled me in for a cat-scan, and then more relaxing sleep.

After all the tests, the doctor came in to tell me that, indeed, I did have a kidney stone which had passed.  I think after a fitful evening to sleep in between trips to the bathroom, the stone is definitely gone.

One of my new new year’s resolutions.  Drink more water!
