Cross Stitch:  For the times when you need to stab something 10,000 times.

Leslie and I are taking a road trip next week.  New car + new location + friend’s new home = lots of fun.

I am already picturing getting some needlepoint projects started and some finished.  I love to cross-stitch (stamped and counted) and I haven’t done much with any projects in a long time.  I don’t know why because I have the time.  I prefer to read my book during my office lunch hour, and on weeknights, I’m sure I could find a few hours.  I think it’s because it’s so relaxing that it will likely put me to sleep.

And I don’t need Leslie waking me up at 8:45 p.m.!  Needless to say, I would do the same for her.

Next week, we’ll load up the car and drive about six hours to the Eastern Sierra area of California.  We’ll spend two nights there (I found an Indian casino!) and then head further northwest to visit our friend Dee.  Dee retired from the large law firm setting a few years ago and had a home built outside of Reno, Nevada.  She downsized (big time) from her long-time home in San Diego, and Leslie and I can’t wait to see the brand new house.  We’ll be tourists for two days (and likely visit some Reno casinos, of course!) and then head back home.

Lately, our vacations have been mixed in with other things (bingo tournament, educational conference), but this one is pure driving and relaxing.  Needlepoint will get started and we may even treat ourselves to a fancy dinner.

And then, in 95 days, we leave for a week-long cruise to Mexico.  Yes, again.  I’m sitting here right now, picturing me sitting on the deck working the needles.  In the shade, of course, because if I were in the sun and wearing my sunglasses, I wouldn’t be able to see because my glasses are to allow me to see in the distance.

Picture it.  Deck chair, iced beverage, music.  People are walking and swimming and partying around me.  Doing their own thing, so they don’t care what I’m doing.

  1. You may even give yourselves….what? I didn’t know you did needlepoint/cross stitch. Hidden talents! We could all sit around some evening knitting, stitching, etc. Your trip sounds lovely. I would love to see all your projects when you get home. 🙂
