When is it too late to give a birthday present? Is it ever too late? A friend celebrated her birthday at the end of January. She lives in the Midwest, and we haven’t seen each other in years. We keep in touch via email and Facebook updates and we both wish we could just get together and hug each other for a bit.
We exchange small holiday and birthday gifts. One year, she sent flowers and chocolate to my office and everyone was jealous. The flowers were beautiful and I think the chocolate was terrific….I ate them quickly and don’t remember! This past birthday, she sent me a QVC gift card, which I have yet to use.
At the end of last year, I mailed her Christmas present a few days late. No excuses. I just didn’t get around to wrapping and mailing it. And now, today is 16 days past her birthday, and I’m finally mailing her birthday gift. Oh, she claims it’s fine, and I’m a firm believer is celebrating a birthday for the whole month. But it’s now the next month.
What do you think? Do you hold birthdays to be sacred?
Acknowledge my day and give me a gift. No excuses.
Or do you just go with the flow?
I love that you remembered me. I don’t care that my gift arrives weeks late.
I can just go with the flow. To me, a gift is a gift and I’ll enjoy it whenever I get it. An Amazon gift card or a bouquet of flowers can be used any time!
