Leslie and I had an occasion to stay in another fancy Los Angeles hotel last week. Last month, we were lucky to stay at the Four Seasons Beverly Hills, which was quite impressive. If you’ve never stayed at a Four Seasons, save your pennies and treat yourself!
Last week, we stayed at a hotel called the London West Hollywood at Beverly Hills. The hotel is located “steps near away from West Hollywood’s hottest attractions and minutes from the rarefied glamour of Beverly Hills.” Each room is a suite and includes, as the hotel promotes itself: “seamless service, inspired culinary options, and unrivaled amenities—including a rooftop pool with panoramic views of the city and beyond—our hotel is the ultimate urban refuge.”
We didn’t take advantage of the rooftop pool (it’s not quite rooftop swimming season yet), but the hotel was amazing. The hotel caters to the “discerning new breed of luxury traveler,” yet Leslie and I are not in that category at all. Room service was delicious, hotel service was impeccable, and the staff seemed to know our name at every turn.
As you can see from the map above, the hotel is located within a few miles of all the Los Angeles hot spots: The Grove, Farmer’s Market, Beverly Hills shopping, the Chinese Theater, and–most importantly–a 24-hour CVS. That’s right. We had occasion to visit that particular CVS. We waited ten minutes just to be able to pull into the parking lot at 5:00 on a weekday afternoon. It was probably one of the largest CVS stores I’d ever been in, and on the day we visited, the Easter sale rack had one lone package of jelly beans left. I mean, that’s not why we were there, but they must have done a good job selling their after-holiday candy at a discount!
Among other amenities at the London, long-distance calls to London are free. We couldn’t think of anyone to call in London, darn it, and I hope someone else got to enjoy that special perk. The bathroom in our suite was as big as my dining room and kitchen combined, and the shower was a walk-in dream. If I could only move that to my 1100 square foot condo.
